The Preliminary Task
Before even of thinking of what we wanted to do for our Preliminary Task-we thought of how we could put a simple plot and turn it in to a dramatic cliché yet one which has a plot for the audience to easily understand. In the end, we thought of doing a money exchange in which one of the characters fools the other and gives him less money than he was owed. The audience never know what the money was for and gives a mysterious conclusion at the end of the 50 second video-with a violent act of closing the briefcase with power. Leaving the audience unaware of the situation at the end.
PRODUCTION
During the Production- It was fairly simple as we had planned the full idea Pre-production.We had changed some of the shots we had planned before as during the production. We had noticed that some shots were better than other shots that we had written down on paper. For example we had thought of a wide shot followed by a close up at the beginning instead of the long shot we had in the beginning of the video.
WHAT WENT WELL?
A lot has went well, such as the finished product. I believe the finished product was very well done- we had prepared the whole idea and knew exactly what we wanted. Furthermore , i believe the editing (post production) was very successful and well done. We had the screen time well balanced by both characters in where it made sense. I believe the music in the background was very well chosen as we had multiple incidental music tracks chosen but in the end we decided that the one in the Preliminary task was best suited to the video. We also made sure the editing didn't go overboard and only used fades when needed. We had also shot the same scene multiple times and overtime we had used a different shot.It was almost like trial and error-but more so we chose the shot that we felt met the scene and suited it the best.Furthermore, I believe both sound and the mixture of different shot types kept the viewer engaged.
EVEN BETTER IF?
In terms of we could of done better? We had some slight mistakes in which the continuity did not match. For example at 0:20, The man is drinking out of his mug, but in the next scene 0:23 seconds the cup is magically down on the table- We should have double checked the scenes and made sure any action makes sense and looks natural, as when he is drinking the cup, it is still being held up but in the next scene -it's seen to be on the table within a split second.By fixing that, the scene would have looked more professional.Furthermore, We could of had increased the volume for when dialogue was present, this would have made the dialogue seem more clear.

As you can see here, one of the men is drinking the cup- The next image shown is the next shot during the same scene. The mug is still being held up and had not been put down on the table.
This is the next shot being shown during the same scene. The mug is now all of a sudden on the table even though there is no advancement in time and this is the same scene. This is a Continuity Error that we have done.
